Getting started

Auralyn is in development. This guide describes the planned 1.0 for Mac.

Get Auralyn

Auralyn is in development and launches on macOS first, with Windows later. The download and the store open at launch.

Planned for 1.0: a Mac with Apple silicon, running macOS 14 Sonoma or later (not yet tested on macOS 14). Intel Macs are not supported. Windows is coming later, with no date yet.

Your first launch

Auralyn builds your library from the folders you add, so the first thing to do is add your music folders.

You do not need an internet connection to play your own files. You need one to activate a licence, to get updates and to use optional online features such as lyrics and artist info. See privacy and online features.

Add your music folders

In Auralyn, click Add source, choose Local folder and pick the folder that holds your music. Add as many folders as you like.

Auralyn gathers the files in the folders you add into one library, with tags, covers, search, albums and artists. It handles up to 100,000 songs and videos.

Your media files are never uploaded. Fixing tags and artwork inside Auralyn does not rewrite your files.

The library does not watch your folders. It rescans when Auralyn opens, or when you press Refresh. If you add new files later, press Refresh.

Have a media server too? See adding your media servers. To check that your files are supported, see formats. More about the library is in your library.

The 14-day trial

At launch, you download Auralyn and every feature works for 14 days. No card is needed.

The 14 days start the first time you open Auralyn. There is one free trial per Mac, so reinstalling does not start a new one.

When the trial ends, Auralyn asks for a licence before it plays. Your library stays as it is.

When you are ready to keep it, see licences and devices and pricing.
