When can I get Auralyn?
Auralyn is in development and launches on macOS first, with Windows later. The download and the store open at launch.
How will the free trial work?
At launch, you download Auralyn and every feature works for 14 days. No card is needed.
Lifetime or Monthly?
At launch, Lifetime is US$49 once and includes every version, future major versions included, at no extra cost. It works offline after one online activation. Monthly is US$4.99 a month, always gets the newest version, and checks the licence online from time to time. You can cancel Monthly anytime. Already on Monthly? Buy Lifetime from the same account and the unused part of your paid month comes off the price. See pricing.
Can I get a refund?
At launch, Lifetime licences can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime: you are not charged again, and the current month isn't refunded. To cancel Monthly, use Manage billing in your account or in Auralyn (Settings → Account), or email support@ironlabstech.com. See refunds and cancellation.
Does it run on Windows or Intel Macs?
Not yet. 1.0 is planned for Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 14 Sonoma or later (not yet tested on macOS 14). Intel Macs are not supported. Windows is coming later, with no date yet, and your licence will also cover it when it ships.
Is Auralyn a streaming service?
No. Auralyn plays music and videos you already have: files and folders on your Mac, and your own media servers such as Navidrome, Gonic, Jellyfin and Emby. There is no catalogue to subscribe to.
Which file formats work?
Planned for 1.0: music in MP3, AAC (.m4a), Apple Lossless (ALAC), FLAC, WAV, AIFF, Opus and Ogg Vorbis; video in MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM, including AC-3 and E-AC-3 surround sound (Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus), a choice of audio tracks, and text subtitles. Not supported yet: WMA, AVI, DTS and TrueHD sound, and picture subtitles. See the formats section. Dolby, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus are trademarks of Dolby Laboratories. Auralyn is not made, endorsed or certified by Dolby.
Does it play lossless music such as FLAC and Apple Lossless?
Yes. FLAC, Apple Lossless (ALAC), WAV and AIFF are among the formats planned for 1.0, alongside MP3, AAC, Opus and Ogg Vorbis.
How large a library can it handle?
Up to 100,000 songs and videos, with tags, covers, search, albums and artists. The library rescans at launch or when you press Refresh; it does not watch folders.
Can it play music from Google Drive?
Planned for 1.0. You sign in with Google and pick the songs and videos in Google's own file picker. Auralyn can see only the files you pick, never the rest of your Drive, and they play straight from Google to your Mac. See privacy.
Can it play music from Dropbox, OneDrive or Box?
Planned for 1.0. You sign in on Dropbox's, Microsoft's or Box's own page and choose the folder with your music. Auralyn only reads your files: it never changes or deletes them, and they play straight from the service to your Mac, never through IronLabs Tech. We are also working on pCloud. See privacy.
Do I need to be online?
Not to play your own files. You need a connection to activate a licence, get updates and use optional online features such as lyrics and artist info.
Does Auralyn upload my music?
No. Your media files are never uploaded. Some optional features go online, such as lyrics and artist info.
